Advanced Manufacturing
Machining Technology
Machining Technology is the heart of manufacturing things. Machinists, Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machine Tool Operators and Programmers, and Manufacturing Production Technicians set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Technicians may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Mechanical engineers plan and design the tools and equipment used in machining.
The Machining Technology POS is designed for students interested in becoming a CNC Tool Operator, a CNC Machining Tool Programmer, or a Machinist. Course content focuses on safety practices concerning machining technology; proper measurement and layout techniques; reading and interpreting specification drawings and blueprints; production design processes; quality control procedures; machine parts to specifications using both manual and computer-controlled machine tools; and measuring, examining, and testing completed products to check for defects and conformance to specifications. Upon completion of this POS, proficient students will be prepared to pursue industry certification at a technology college or more advanced coursework at a two-year or four-year postsecondary institution. This program is aligned with the SkillsUSA and TSA CTSOs.

The Residential and Commercial Construction POS prepares students for the various disciplines of construction. Course content is arranged around three sequenced, progressive courses that provide students with the opportunity to develop a holistic understanding of the building systems and components required for a construction project. Students will be able to interpret construction drawings, perform basic math skills, demonstrate the construction crafts required for each phase of a construction project, including carpentry, concrete, masonry, electricity, plumbing, and HVAC, and safely use and maintain appropriate tools, equipment, and resources to accomplish construction project goals. Course content covers industry-specific business concepts and skills, such as cost estimation, relationships among parties involved in the building process, testing and inspection procedures, scheduling practices, and project management.
Residential and commercial construction covers a wide variety of trades. Cement masons place and finish concrete in sidewalks, columns, beams, and other surfaces. Brick masons build walls, walkways, fences, roads, and other structures using bricks combined with other materials. Roofers build new roofs, inspect roofs for damages, repair roofs, and transport the materials needed in roofing. Construction laborers perform physical tasks such as cleaning, removing debris, loading, and unloading materials, digging ditches, and other tasks.

Health Science
Therapeutic Services
Therapeutic Services POS is designed to prepare students to pursue careers in therapeutic service careers. Therapeutic careers are focused primarily on changing the health status of the patient over time explaining that health professionals in this pathway work directly with patients; they may provide care, treatment, counseling, and health education information. Upon completion of this program, a proficient student will identify careers in the therapeutic services pathway; assess, monitor, evaluate, and report patient and client health status; and identify the purpose and components of treatments. In addition, students have the opportunity to incorporate communication, problem-solving, and information-collection skills in their coursework for future success in the workplace. In the fourth year of this POS, students have the option of taking the Clinical Internship or Work-Based Learning Therapeutic Services Career Practicum. The capstone practicum course provides students with opportunities to learn from industry professionals in a working environment, providing exposure to various therapeutic services, strengthening their patient-care skills, and developing moral and ethical standards through medical practices.
Dual credit and dual enrollment opportunities may be established with local postsecondary institutions.
Nursing Services
The Nursing Services POS is designed to prepare students to pursue nursing careers. Upon completion of this program, a proficient student will be able to implement communication and interpersonal skills, maintain residents’ rights and independence, provide care safely, prevent emergency situations, prevent infection through infection control, and perform the skills required of a nursing assistant. In the fourth year of this POS, students have the option of taking Nursing Education, Clinical Internship, or the Work-Based Learning Nursing Services Career Practicum. The capstone practicum course provides students with the opportunities to learn from real-life scenarios, advancing student knowledge in medical skills and terminology. Students will log 40 hours of site-based clinical work with at least 24 of those hours spent in a long-term care facility as part of the year four course.
Successful completion of the course and certification exam allows the student to seek immediate employment as a Certified Nursing Aide or Patient Care Technician.
Although this POS leads students to a certified nursing assistant or patient care technician industry certification, students seeking a degree in medicine who plan to enter medical school will find this POS to be beneficial. The emphasis on anatomy and physiology, along with patient care content and skills, makes this POS the perfect adjunct to a focus on science and math for the student who is bound for medical school.Dual credit and dual enrollment opportunities may be established with local postsecondary institutions.
